Meet Our Kent Team!
Heading up the team is our Senior Ecologist Liam Mattingly, joined by Assistant Ecologists Adam Humphreys and Ella Barnes.
Leading the Way: Liam Mattingly – Senior Ecologist
Liam graduated from the University of Southampton with a degree in Zoology before discovering his passion for ecology, particularly in the Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) landscape. Since joining Biodiverse in 2024, Liam has become a valued member of our team, known for his strong work ethic, deep ecological knowledge, and collaborative approach.
In recognition of his leadership, technical expertise, and ability to support colleagues across a range of projects, Liam was recently promoted to Senior Ecologist. He plays a vital role in delivering high-quality ecological assessments, mentoring team members, and helping our clients achieve their biodiversity and planning goals.
Welcoming New Talent: Adam Humphreys & Ella Barnes – Assistant Ecologists
In June 2025, we were thrilled to welcome Adam Humphreys and Ella Barnes to our Kent team as Assistant Ecologists.
Adam holds a BSc in Zoology from the University of Leeds, graduating in 2023. His academic background and professional experience have equipped him with strong skills in delivering detailed written reports and interpreting field data. Adam has worked two seasons as a seasonal bat surveyor, where he collected observational data and collaborated with field teams on survey sites. He has also volunteered extensively with the Countryside Regeneration Trust (CRT), contributing to habitat management, freshwater surveys, and monitoring protected species. He brings impressive bird identification skills both visual and auditory and is enthusiastic about developing these further during his time at Biodiverse.
Ella recently graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in Conservation Biology and Ecology. Eager to dive into hands-on fieldwork, she’s particularly excited to participate in species-specific surveys such as those for bats and reptiles. Ella is passionate about contributing to meaningful conservation outcomes and is looking forward to learning from the experienced ecologists on our team.
We’re proud of our small but mighty Kent team. Their passion, knowledge, and dedication are already making a positive impact, and we can't wait to see all they’ll accomplish.
